UX study: Cultural differences in Design & what is appealing to Americans?
Designing a website that converts visitors into customers
THE PROCESS
Timeline: 4 months
Team: Just me
Platform: Mobile-first web page
Challenges: to create consistent branding and a company web page for DC Analytix LLC
THE RESEARCH
Academic research was based on Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions and other studies relevant to the same theme.
In addition to that I conducted stakeholder interviews to find out what would be the ideal customer journey. Competitive and comparative analysis was performed. The goal was to find out what works and what doesn't on similar companies websites.
THE DESIGN
Colour blue can be found in many tech-businesses palettes as a main colour: it represents trust and there are no negative associations with it.
Straight-to-the-point approach works well for Americans. Navigation is simple and there's nothing extra on the page.
Wireframing and prototyping showed that contact form should be visible on every page. This way the visitor has an easy way to contact the business.
RESULTS
Americans need proof of talent. Therefore including relevant work experience and degrees is important.
Potential customer wants to make their own decision and doesn't appreciate being influenced, so showcasing services in a clear way is a must.
